Reminder: Fee Changes Effective January 1st in Calgary, Alberta

It wouldn’t be a New Year without local fee and rate increases! Here is a reminder of the changes which went into effect on Saturday.

Transit

Adult monthly passes are increasing from $85.25 to $90, and low-income monthly passes are lowering from $41.50 to $40. All other fees remain the same. For more information you can call Calgary Transit customer service at 403-262-1000, or visit http://www.calgarytransit.com/

Waste Management and Recycling

Monthly waste management charges are increasing from $4.20 to $4.35, while blue cart monthly rates are increasing from $8.40 to $8.75.

Recreational Activities

Many rates for recreational activities are increasing, new prices are listed below:

Ice Arena: Prime Hourly Rates                                                    $208.50

Leisure Centers: General Admission                                        $10.10

Swimming Pools: Tier 1 Admission                                            $5.10

Swimming Pools: Tier 2 Admission                                            $6.00

Swimming Pools: Annual Tier 1                                                  $380.83

Swimming Pools: Annual Tier 2                                                  $452.30

Golf: McCall Lake 9 holes                                                              $14.00

Golf: Maple Ridge 18 holes Weekday                                      $43.00

Golf: McCall Lake & Shaganappi 18 hole Weekday             $40.00

Golf: Maple Ridge 18 holes Weekend                                     $48.00

Golf: McCall Lake & Shaganappi 18 hole Weekday             $45.00

Parks

Picnic site rates are increasing as follows:

1-25 people        $42.30

26-50 people      $82.20

51-100 people   $169.20

Playing field rates are increasing to $17.55 for adults and $1.95 for children.

Cricket rates are increasing to $64.30 for segments B4-7 and $44.10 for other segments.

Waste, Wastewater and Drainage Fees

Water rates are increasing by 5.8%, wastewater by 5%, and stormwater drainage by 5%. It is estimated that this will result in an average $5 increase per month per customer.
