Posted by Carlos Montes on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 at 12:47pm.

The City of Calgary is looking for qualified census takers to help with gathering information on our city and its inhabitants. Information gathered through the censuses is used for budgeting, City planning, and future project planning. In order to apply to become a census taker you must:

-          Be willing to complete a 30 minute assessment test in person at the Election and Information Services Office (located at 1103 55 Ave N.E.)

-          Be 18 years of age or older

-          Be able to walk for lengths of time in seasonable weather conditions (census collection begins April 1)

-          Be able to attend a two hour training session in March

-          Be able to attend a 30 minute check-in and review appointment in April

For more information you can visit www.calagary.ca/census. Most census takers are assigned an area of 400 to 600 homes/dwellings, and the job takes approximately 3 weeks to complete. Becoming a census taker is a great way to get connected with your community, get some exercises and fresh air, and help the City and its residents. These are paid positions, so if you are in need of some pre-summer cash why not see what it’s like?
