December 2, 2010 Mortgage Update

December.... Wow, it’s already here. I can hardly believe it! 24 days left to do my Christmas shopping!  I decorated my house this weekend and I made some cookies last night for a Christmas party today.  The next couple of weeks will be filled with shopping, parties, hot chocolate, caroling and all the cheer of the holiday season.  I like this time of year and I am looking forward to spending Christmas with my family.

Rates have gone up, but there are still some good rates to be had.  3.69% on a 5 year fixed is still available, while some bank are offering as high as 3.99%.  I know I say this all the time, but it’s a really good idea to get a rate hold in place to protect yourself from rate hikes.  Even if you are looking to buy until the New Year you can get a pre-approval for a 120 days, so when you do find the home you are looking for you you will get today’s rates.
